Museum Tours

We are pleased to accommodate group tours with tour options available tailored to your interests and time. Tour the museum with a guide, take advantage of an audio handset tour, or reserve the museum after-hours for a group.

School Groups
A museum for the young, and the young at heart!
School classes and other youth groups are welcome to visit us at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum. Docent-led tours may be scheduled on Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tours must be reserved at least two weeks in advance. Other dates and times may be available by special arrangement.
This tour will introduce students to the history of the automobile in America with an emphasis on Alaska’s automotive history and the difficulties faced by our pioneering motorists.
Students will see examples of American cars built between 1898 and 1936, and hear real life stories of how automotive technology and design changed over time.
The guided tour lasts up to 45 minutes. An additional 45 minutes is provided for an organized activity. Teachers may use our scavenger hunt or design their own activity for their students to enjoy. Teachers can also allow students to be photographed at the Sourdough Roadhouse exhibit.

Visiting with a group? Maximize your visit with one of our enthusiastic guides who will take you on a personalized tour of the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum! See a remarkable collection of rare vehicles, including oddities like a 100-year-old hybrid gas/electric car, a curious “snow flyer” and early cyclecars. You’ll also learn about the rich and entertaining history of the automobile in Alaska and the unusual challenges faced by our pioneering motorists. Other interesting artifacts, including historic photographs and vintage clothing exhibits, will complement your tour. Tours are typically a minimum of 2-hours.
This tour is available during normal museum hours. Please plan on scheduling a week in advance if possible. Maximum tour size is 40 people. Over 12 persons are charged an additional $30 per person. 30-minute leeway upon opening and closing is allowed for these guided tours.
Customizable After Hours Tours - Special Openings Outside of Regular Hours

Non-Guided - $350.00 to open museum (includes up to 4 people with admission), additional guests are $18 per person (Additional guests 4 - 12yo are $10.00, over 13 are $18.00 per person). Private tour is 2-hours. Additional time available upon request at $150.00 per hour.
Guided Tour – $525.00 to open museum (includes up to 6 people with admission). Additional guests are $30.00. Private, guided tour is 2-hours (1-hour with our docent, plus 1-hour self-guided). Additional time available upon request at $150.00 per hour.
*Please note: Maximum tour size for the above optional are 40 guests. A 30-minute grace period will be allowed but deducted from the 2-hour private opening period. Tours will be charged to a credit card 7-days in advance and reservations are non-refundable. Reservations made with less than 7-days notice shall be billed in full at the time of booking, with not less than 72-hour advance notice required. **For groups with established direct billing accounts with Fountainhead, you’ll be billed after the tour. However, your reservation os sill non-refundable if not cancelled within 7-days of the scheduled after-hours tour.
